  Dstv competition with a difference

It’s not often you get to enter a competition that will see you “winning” the opportunity to help a community in need. But that’s exactly what Dstv did when it created a viewers competition that enabled 13 subscribers to win a trip, along with their partners, to Cape Town to participate in DStv's "Giving Back" Community Project Day.

 



  Thebe Tourism Staff Community Project - Foodtent Build at Delta Primary School

Delta Primary School in Retreat, Cape Town has a FoodTent thanks to the kindness and generousity of the Thebe Tourism Group. On Saturday 28th November 2009, the staff of Thebe Tourism Group, learners and teachers from Delta Primary, parents and a few community members joined Love to Africa to build a FoodTent for the school.

Whether it’s building a greenhouse for growing vegetables, putting up a community pole, painting an orphanage or planting trees at schools, local and international visitors to the Cape can now make a short-term, but meaningful contribution to the upliftment of historically impoverished communities.

Our First FoodTent was built at Zanokhanyo Children's home in Khayelitsha on 29th October 2009 and is thriving.

Love to Africa's first activation was held at Zanokhanyo Children's Home on 29th October 2009. The day was a very special event as we were building a FoodTent to help feed the beautiful 25 children that live here.
